In
1919 the Kaunas Institute of Hygiene set up a “Pasteur station,” which began producing a vaccine for rabies. This station later gave rise to the Kaunas Bacterial Preparations company, founded in 1963. In 1989 the company moved to new production facilities, and since 1992 has functioned as the Bacterial Preparations company.

1931 the Vilnius Pharmaceutical Factory began operating in Vilnius, producing medications widely used in Lithuania. In 2001 the general government privatized this company.

2002 a group of individuals founded the Valentis company. From the very start, its owners sought to create a manufacturing base featuring the latest technology, to consolidate the existing companies in this sector and to hire the best specialized talent.
In
2003 Valentis purchased a controlling interest in Bacterial Preparations. That year Valentis also obtained control of the Vilnius Pharmaceuticals Factory.

2003 Valentis completed negotiations for the purchase of Ilsanta’s production facility in Vilnius. This facility, built in 1995 and designed by Sweden’s Pharmadule, was the only enterprise in Lithuania that could produce sterile medications.
In
2004 Valentis completed renovation of its production facility in accordance with good production practices (GMP). The company invested over 7 million litas.

In late
2004 the company restructured Bacterial Preparations into a facility for the processing of initial materials and is modernizing its research laboratory. Concurrently, Valentis began the process of closing the Vilnius Pharmaceutical Factory.
